Before a DJI remote control can be used as a joystick by FPVSIM, it is usually necessary to install DJI Assistant 2 that matches the specific product series. This tutorial takes DJI FPV Remote Controller 3 as an example to complete driver preparation, USB identification, and four-axis calibration of the FPVSIM desktop version and web version.
Match the correct DJI Assistant 2 first
DJI provides multiple Assistant 2 versions at the same time, and different product series may require different software packages and drivers. The Remote Controller 3 in the video uses the Consumer Drones Series version; for other DJI remote controls, you should confirm the corresponding version from its official support page, and the download selection in this tutorial cannot be applied just because of similar names.
Prepare a USB cable capable of transferring data, and confirm that the computer system is supported by this Assistant 2 version. After installation, follow the prompts to log in and start the software, and then use DJI’s common two-stage power-on action—short press the power button once, then long press—to fully power on the remote control.
Confirm that the system has recognized the remote control
After the remote controller is powered on, connect to the computer via USB and wait for DJI Assistant 2 to display the device. Only after Assistant 2 can stably recognize the device should you enter FPVSIM; if it fails here, you should check the software version, boot action, data cable, USB port and driver installation prompt in order.
The purpose of DJI Assistant 2 is to allow the system to correctly expose remote control input and cannot replace FPVSIM calibration. The system "seeing the device" only means that the connection is established, the center value, endpoint and axis still need to be measured by the simulator.
Calibration in FPVSIM Desktop
Open FPVSIM and select Calibrate Gamepad in Options; the same tool can also be accessed from the Radio and Gamepad page. First, let all the joysticks complete their full strokes, and then follow the prompts to push the throttle to the highest limit, roll to the right, pitch up, and yaw to the right. Interface prompts should take precedence over personal joystick modes.
Take a short, controlled test flight after applying the results while watching to see if the input is centered and reaches the endpoint. If a direction is reversed, the center drifts, or the amplitude is incomplete, it should be recalibrated rather than relying on in-flight compensation.
Pairing in FPVSIM web version
Enter the FPVSIM web version and accept the browser's controller access request; you can also select Pair controller from Settings → Controller. The device name depends on the operating system and sometimes just appears as HID interface. If multiple universal devices appear in the list, you should connect them one by one and confirm which one will change with the remote control joystick through the real-time input diagram.
Confirm that the four axes have real-time input before starting the calibration to complete the full range and direction prompts for roll, pitch, yaw, and throttle. Browser permissions, operating system device names, and DJI models may all be different, so only change one variable at a time when troubleshooting.
Operation steps
- Download the matching model of DJI Assistant 2
Confirm the product series and operating system version from the remote's official DJI support page; the Remote Controller 3 in the video uses the Consumer Drones Series.
- Install, log in and start the software
Complete the Assistant 2 installation, log in when prompted, and then fully open the app.
- Power on and recognize the remote control via USB
Short press and then long press the power button to turn on the remote control, connect it with the data cable and wait for Assistant 2 to recognize it.
- Complete FPVSIM desktop version calibration
Open the Calibrate Gamepad, complete all joystick ranges, and then follow the prompts to complete the four-axis direction.
- Select the device that actually has input in the browser
Accept the pairing request; if multiple HID interfaces appear, test them one by one and retain the device that the real-time axis will respond to.
- Complete web version calibration
After confirming the real-time input, start the calibration, record the complete range and complete the four-axis direction prompt.
FAQ
Which DJI Assistant 2 should I install?
Use the version officially listed by DJI for your specific remote. The DJI FPV Remote Controller 3 in the video uses the Consumer Drones Series, but other models may belong to different product series.
The browser only displays the HID interface. Is this normal?
Probably OK, this is a common name provided by the operating system. Move the joystick after connecting; the correct device is the entry that changes in the FPVSIM live input graph.
Assistant 2 has recognized the remote control, why does it need to be calibrated?
Identification only provides the device to the system; FPVSIM still needs to measure the center, endpoint, and direction of each axis to be used for precise flight control.
What should I do if Assistant 2 cannot see the remote control?
Confirm that the remote control is fully powered on, the cable supports data, and the USB port is valid, and check whether Assistant 2 matches the product series, and handle the driver or permission prompts given by the system.
Can the same process be used for macOS?
Video Description Assistant 2 is available in Windows and macOS versions. You should download the installation package that matches the system and model and allow the appropriate device permissions; the specific prompts may differ from Windows.

Hello everyone, this video will show you how to use the DJI remote control to fly in the FPVSIM drone simulator, including the web version and desktop version. Compared with OpenTX-based remote controls, the setup steps for a DJI remote control will be more, because an additional software needs to be run in order to be recognized by the system as an external game controller or joystick device.
This software is called DJI Assistant 2. Search for DJI Assistant 2 and you will see many different versions such as consumer drone series, industry series, etc. We are using DJI FPV Remote Control 3 here, so just choose the consumer drone series version.
Please download the correct DJI Assistant 2 version according to your device. This software supports both Mac OS and Windows. Download the Windows EXE installer on Windows Once downloaded, run and install. After logging in to your account, you can see that DJI Assistant 2 is running.
Next, turn on the power of the remote control. First press the power button briefly, then press and hold the power button. After turning on the computer, you can connect the remote control to the computer. After the connection is successful, DJI Assistant 2 will recognize the remote control. At this point, the preparation work on the software side is completed. Here's a look at how to calibrate your remote in FPVSIM. We will introduce the desktop version first, and then the web version.
Now start the FPVSIM drone simulator. The desktop version of FPVSIM has been opened here. The latest version allows you to enter the game without logging in. We've made adjustments to this process based on your feedback.
To calibrate the remote control, please enter the options and click Calibrate Gamepad. No matter which remote control you use, this step is necessary. Flight controls require higher precision than ordinary game controllers, so a calibration process must be completed.
Click Calibrate Game Controller, you can also enter the remote control and game controller page. The same buttons and more detailed settings are there. Click and follow the prompts. The first step is to push all the rockers to their respective extreme positions, let the system detect the complete stroke, and then push the throttle to the highest limit. Push the roll lever all the way to the right, push the pitch lever all the way up, and push the yaw lever all the way to the right.
The calibration is basically completed. Click Apply and now we can fly in the simulator. Next let’s see how to calibrate the web version. Open FPVSIM.com, click Fly in the browser, and confirm that your account has gained access.
The system will prompt that the remote control access permission has not been obtained. Click OK to pair. You can also enter the settings of the remote control and click to pair the remote control. Different operating systems may display different device names, but usually only one option will appear in the list. If multiple devices appear, you can try to find the one that corresponds to your remote control one by one.
Hopefully your system will display more explicit names. My computer only shows HID interface. This name is not something the simulator can control. After selecting the correct device and clicking to connect, you can see the channel values on the screen change when you shake the joystick. After confirming the input, start calibration and follow the prompts.
Move the joystick to the prompted position once, and then operate the roll, pitch, yaw and throttle respectively. Once completed, the web version has been calibrated and is ready to fly.
